Getting used to my new graveyard shift

I'm so used to working the swing shift at work but since my wife started working, I had to change my shift to graveyard to accomodate her work hours and to take care of my 2 kids. Boy! It sure is different than working swing shift and my hours are 10pm - 6:30am and theres no one out on the streets after 2pm. At first I had a hard time sleeping in the day time while the rest of my family was awake and about but I slowly started getting used to it and now it's a little easier sleeping in the day time. Well, I might as well get used to it because my wifes work hours are not changing anytime soon. The good part about my wife working is that we have extra money earned from her work that really helps us between my paycheck. We're really better off financially than before when we were living in the other house. Thanks honie for helping out.

Wifey first job at famous filipino store

I'm so proud of my wife in that she recently was offered a job in Seafood City here in San Diego. This will be her first real job since coming here to America 8 years ago. We just happened to be shopping in the supermarket one day and she inquired of work and wouldn't you know it, she was offered a job that day. She saw the manager that day and the manager had her fill out an application followed by a drug test and background check. Several weeks later, and now my wife is working and she really likes her job. I'm happy she's working there because she says when we go to that store it always makes her feel like she's home in the Philippines. We're in the process of petitioning my mother-in-law who's currently in the philippines to here in the United States so she can start a new life here and help us watch our kids while we work. It would be nice if she was here now but this will take time and money. For now though my wife is working and her daily routine is more active and busy which is good because she's not stuck in the house as much.

No Car Space? How to Get Your Car Garage Back

Junk has a way of creeping up on you. It starts with just a single cardboard box and pretty soon a massive pile of ‘stuff’ has accumulated - all the things you don’t know where else to put. Garages are commonly used as a storage space, but if you your car space has been invaded by so much junk that you are having trouble getting your car in, it’s time to act.

You may be putting off this task because there is simply nowhere else to put everything that has found a home in your garage. If this is the case you should consider hiring a storage space in a storage facility like Fort Knox Storage Mackay. Prices are reasonable, security is excellent and you will get your garage back!

Here is a plan of attack for those of you who have decided you need your garage back.

Make Time

Set aside a weekend to clean out your garage. Try and enlist some support from your family. You could lure them with the promise of having a garage sale and sharing the cash with your helpers.

Shelve It

Consider installing a sturdy set of shelves on or against your garage walls. This will greatly facilitate organisation and will get your stuff off the floor. Measure the space you need for the car including some clearance space to determine the size of your shelving.

Four Piles

Unpack the contents of your garage and place everything in one of four piles; the rubbish pile; the sell or give away pile; the action needed pile; and lastly the ‘stays in the garage’ pile. The action needed pile is for items that need to mended, put back in the correct place or returned to their rightful owner.
You may have to get ruthless. If you don’t use something, you need to throw it away, give it away or sell it. If you don’t use it, get rid of it.

When you have determined what needs to stay in the garage, organise it into logical categories. Put all pool supplies together; put your pet equipment together; Christmas decorations etc. You get the idea. You can buy plastic boxes to fit into your shelving. Have a box for each collection and mark the lid or side of the box for easy identification. This will save you hours of frustration when you are trying to find something in the future.

Act on the Action Items

Don’t put your action pile back in the garage. Return things to their rightful owners or correct place, take broken items to get fixed or fix them yourself. If you don’t, you will end up with everything back in the garage. When it comes to broken items, consider whether the item is worth fixing. If in doubt, throw it out.

Lastly, sweep out your newly acquired space and cobweb and dust ceilings, walls and shelving.
Enjoy your new car space!

Testing my memory function

Here is a picture of me talking to my son Ethan about the MTS buses at my work. This morning, I wanted to test my memory function to see how well my brain is functioning because I've been having some problems at work with my paperwork and my supervisor is kicking back my paperwork to me because of small errors but these small errors are starting to give me big headache and threaten my position in the company and that's not good for me. Have you heard of this TVcommercial promoting a website called Luminosity? If not, just type it in your search engine and you can find it. They advertise this website where you can test your brain with brain games and improve your overall brain function. The people on the commercial say that it has dramatically improved their brain memory and helped them. I wanted to try it so I went to the website and registered and they ask you what would you like to improve in your brain function. After answering some specific questions I played several memory games and I actual did  pretty well and scored a 96% from only 2 games. I'm not finished yet but i'm thinking that the problem I have at work is not so much my memory but maybe a lack of focusing on my job or possibly allowing outside activities to interfere with my concentration. Whatever it is, I need to fix it and quick.

Out with the old, In with the new

Finally, I can say we're finally moved into our new apartment after 7 years at our previous apartment. After we made the decision to move out, I started to have feelings of regret and every time I went over the old place to pick up some more stuff, I felt sad.  The reason I was having these feelings was because this was the place were my wife and I had started our family. I reflected back at the last seven years of our lives and the special memories we had raising our  baby boy and baby girl. We had 2 beautiful children at this place and we shared many memories together. This place we lived in for the last 7 years was were we first went to San francisco on vacation, saw the famous golden gate bridge, went to disneyland in Anaheim, California, Legoland, Universal Studios hollywood, Los Angeles, San Diego Zoo, Seaworld, Mt. Laguna and Mt. Palomar in the winter time for sliding with the kids. We shared a lot of memories in this old apartment and a lot of emotional moments. Learning the in's and out's of being a new father by trial and error. Our apartment manager told us to look at our move as a positive thing and not negative. I guess it's ok to have these feelings but 7 years in this place is a long time and the place needed some fresh paint and new carpet, a new look sorta speak. We were tired because of the constant noises from the garage door motor below our floor, the church across the street with their crazy music and the neighbors next door. This new place is very quiet. There's a sign posted on the wall of the driveway when you drive into our new place that state's "please turn off music before entering our community". We live on the bottom floor and it's so peaceful here. It's so quiet here that my family sleeps so well. I think we all really needed this place for a change. Piece of mind.
